Born in 1947 in Long Island, New York, Donald Buck Dharma Roeser was an American Guitarist and songwriter. Buck Dharma was a member of the Band “Blue Oyster Cult” ever since its inception in 1967.
Buck Dharma has played many hit numbers such as “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” and “Burning for you” etc for his band. He also sang lead vocal on numerous occasions. Buck Dharma spent his early childhood listening to his father play the Saxophone. Buck Dharma’s father was an accomplished Jazz Saxophonist. Buck Dharma initially started with playing the drums, but as fate would have it, he had an accident while playing basketball and fractured his left wrist as a result of which playing the drums became a difficulty. Buck Dharma then slowly started experimenting the guitar while recovering from the wrist injury and later realized that his true calling was in the guitar and went on to become one of the Legendary icons in Rock music.
Buck Dharma used to play the Gibson SG and many other customs Steinberger models. Buck Dharma got his nickname when their Band’s Manager Mr. Sandy Pearlman wanted each of the artists to have a unique Stage name and Roeser was the first to opt for it and hence has remained thus.
